I’ve been away for so long.
I went to the Moon.
It’s been so long since I posted here, but I felt I needed to mention that Notch has sold Minecraft to Microsoft for $2.5 Billion.
He wanted to get away from it all and who can blame him, really.
Born fully formed, I carefully picked my way down to the ground, to the first gleaming oasis I that caught my eye.
The trip was arduous.
I made my first impact on the world around me by chopping down trees. I used the wood to build a crude shelter, huddling in it against the cold winds. I slept not a wink, listening to the rustle of creatures outside, finding their feet in this new world. The stars wheeled by in the sky.
The first rays of light played upon my face, bringing with them a warm breeze, and I risked stepping free of my shelter, to this. Confronted by the first sunrise in my new world.
I kept meaning to update this site before MineCraft 1.8 was released and it looks like I failed to make it in time – it was just released today! I wonder if the map file format has remained the same between this version and 1.7. I hope so, or I’ll have to re-write some of my applications (which I will put up on this site at some point, I promise)
Okay, so the idea behind this world was to start with a single, disconnected island and expand out constructing from there. It took a while to find a suitable location – I just walked away from the spawn point in a straight line (for ages) until I found a lake with a suitable island in the middle.
After placing light sources all over the island so that creepers wouldn’t spawn while I was making my changes, I built a multi-level building from stone.
This is one of the many entrances. I need to think of some way of making them less dull, although I kind of like the look of smooth stone.
The view from the inside is a little dreary, aside from the library blocks under the stairs, there.
The first floor (up the stairs in the previous pic) is a little more airy, with a balcony to the outside which overlooks the lake, and light coming from the roof windows.
The second floor leads to an atrium with a glass roof. The door at the back leads to a ladder to the roof outside.
This is the view from the second-floor balcony.
A closer view from the first-floor balcony. Most areas of the island are either enclosed inside the fence or have a cliff too high for mobs to climb.
This is the view from the roof. The building in the distance is another structure I’ll show you in part 2 of this.
Hello! This is a blog I made so I can put pictures of my things I do in Minecraft in it. It’s probably of interest to no-one but me, haha.
Not a huge fan of this wordpress theme either, but it took me ages to find one which I thought was remotely suitable.
